Who Is The Underground?
The Underground Miami was born in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Ever since then, The Underground has grown, sticking to its ultimate goal of shedding light on the local music scene. The platform has expanded to the city and Boston, bearing the potential of becoming a national, and possibly an international, platform, with the solid mission of supporting local music scenes.
The Underground is run by founder Mia Rodriguez. She was born in Miami and has studied fine arts all throughout her career. She is now re-located in Boston, still studying fine arts. Ever since she was young, she has had a passion for music and hoped to one day contribute to the music scene. She attended her first local concert in Miami in April of 2019. That night, she fell in love with the incredible music scene of her hometown of Miami. Ever since that night, she made it her mission to go to as many local shows in Miami, catching any and every genre of music the city has to offer.
She started this platform as a result of having a conversation with some of her musician friends, while they were reminiscing about local concerts pre-covid. What Mia most missed from the music scene was the sense of community she felt any time she walked into a venue with live music, and she hoped to keep that community alive and thriving with The Underground. The mission of this platform is to support and promote the local music scene of Miami. Ever since then, The Underground has hosted multiple livestreams featuring only some of the amazing talent of the local scene.
The Underground name has gained national recognition, especially in the cities of Miami and Boston, both of the cities where The Underground is active. With the support of family and friends, Mia has been achieving the goals she set with The Underground since its creation.
